Get ready for a steamy and passionate day of Latin dancing, with a rare dancing workshop, today at the Blue Water Quay. Professional Latin dancers Giancarlo and Masha Johansson will present the workshop, starting at 10am. The couple are the current Asia-Pacific and New Zealand Professional Salsa champions and will be joined by a host of international award-winning dancers from New Zealand.

North Shore Times, 2009


After five nights a week of rehearsals and a lift attempt resulting in a dive head-first into the floor, Alyx Ty and Tania Mason are salsa champions. Two years training with Masha and her husband Giancarlo at Latinissimo Dance Company in Glenfield, Alyx and Tania now choreograph their own routines incorporating moves from various genres ranging from ballroom, hip hop and cheerleading.

On a busy Friday, watching TVNZ's morning show programme was a little unusual. But to see New Zealand salsa competition stars, Masha and Giancarlo Johansson, perform was a treat. In a word - WOW! Masha was sensational in a figure hugging costume and high heels; Giancarlo, equally dashing. When they danced you could feel the studio temperature rise to sizzling point! Tight, daring, elegant and very, very hot, they moved with lightning speed and artistry, producing rapid lunges, turns and flips. It is no wonder they are NZ's best!

North Shore Times, 2009


A North Shore dance school dominated this year's New Zealand salsa nationals. Dancers from Latinissimo in Glenfield won the open, team and amateur divisions, as well as the people's choice award for each of these categories.
